The regiment was disbanded on June 1, 1778 at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. William Neill served as a Captain of the North Carolina militia at King’s Mountain in October 1780. William had three sons that served in the Revolutionary War. His son and namesake, Lt. William Neills was killed at the Battle of Ramsours Mill, on June 20, 1780.

David Vance also helped to send Lord Cornwallis to New York City and his eventual defeat in the last major campaign of the Revolutionary War.
