CHARTERED 21 APRIL 2012Joyce O. Segaloff, organizing regent, arrived on Guam in 2007. She arrived from Belize, Central America, with her husband, Lou and thought that Guam would be her final destination, she wanted to establish a DAR chapter here so that she could continue the legacy set by her second great aunt and continued by her great grandmother, grandmother, aunt, and mother. She missed going to meetings and the camaraderie of her fellow DAR sisters.
On December 12, 2009, Joyce was confirmed as an organizing regent. She was now free to pursue her dream to establish a chapter on Guam. She advertised in the media and talked to everyone she met about the new DAR chapter. When she found eligible members, she assisted them and encouraged them to participate. Her hard work finally paid off when the Mariana Islands Chapter was approved on April 21, 2012. Today the chapter has fifteen members and a growing list of associate and prospective members. The current Regent is Machelle Craig-Leon Guerrero. |
